The working principle of led Diode

A diode is a device with two electrodes in an electronic component, and its greatest characteristic is that the current can only flow from one direction of the diode. The diode is composed of rectifier circuit, detection circuit, voltage regulator circuit and various modulation circuits.


How diodes work:

The crystal diode is a pmurn junction composed of p-type semiconductors and n-type semiconductors, which forms a space charge layer on both sides of the interface and has a self-built electric field. When there is no applied voltage, the electric equilibrium state will be formed because the diffusion current and drift current caused by the carrier concentration difference on both sides of the pmurn junction are equal.

When there is a positive voltage bias, the mutual suppression effect of the external electric field and the self-built electric field increases the carrier diffusion current and causes the forward current.

When there is a reverse voltage bias, the external electric field and the self-built electric field are further strengthened to achieve a reverse saturation current independent of the reverse bias voltage in the reverse voltage range.

When the applied reverse voltage is high to a certain extent, when the electric field strength of the charge layer in the pmurn junction reaches the critical value, a large number of electron holes will be generated and the reverse breakdown current will be generated
